Greetings! Welcome to my brand-new site update.

This site has been a long time in the making, and may still undergo some tweaks, BUT IT’S HERE! This new version was designed in WordPress, which I originally expected to mean “less work” in designing, but after building a child theme, 1300+ lines of custom CSS, and countless PHP & javascript edits later, this is another hackathon of a site.

I wanted to build something more up-to-date with an easier-to-update and less buggy portfolio gallery, as well as future update flexibility. Now I can share content in one centralized place, making social media more secondary. If you have any suggestions, WordPress is a blog platform, so feel free to add comments with your own account. And feel free to share my content!

Here’s the story of how I got into web design… partially just to get SEO points.

I have been designing websites since I was 11 years old. Three years before Y2K didn’t happen. So I’ve been crunching HTML two-thirds of the time I’ve been alive. There wasn’t even “internet” yet when my friends and I got started. We started using the modem to connect to bulletin board systems, and I remember when AOL CD mailers suddenly started appearing. (Did you know that AOL is still one of the most-used email clients?) I was there in the thick of it! The dawn of the WWW. My friends and I designed a huge site to host articles and PC games that we created. It’s crazy, but most of it is still hosted on Tripod. I thought about going into computer science or music, but I ended up following the path of least resistance (thanks high school aptitude test). We built everything in HTML tables back then, so after college, I started working in marketing, coding HTML email like it was second-nature. Now that I’m all done designing this site, I can get back to what I’m good at… more designing.
